Water Island, St. Thomas is only 8 miles by boat (or submarine) from “Epstein Island” (Little St. James, St. Thomas.)

Water Island to Epstein Island 8 - Miles

In 2005, Joe Biden’s brother James, was involved in a somewhat shady looking land deal involving a few parcels of undeveloped lots on Water Island, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

The amount of money involved was pretty immaterial in the context of “political scandals” ($150,000 is mentioned) and it would likely have gone unnoticed until Politico published a piece in January 2020.

The potential “shadiness” described in Politico is barely, marginally interesting, given everything that has come out about Hunter’s lap-top, “10% to the Big-Guy”, the Burisma Board pay-offs, and the many other forms of graft, bribery, and fraud that the Biden family seems to have had a franchise in over at least the past two decades.

The more recent, major corruption issues, currently being investigated by non-legacy media journalists, aside, Water Island is a very interesting little vacation spot, and the Biden family’s fondness for the place raises a number of curiosities.

Joe went to Water Island at least three times

In the years since the land deals, the U.S. Virgin Islands have been a favored destination for the Biden clan. In between election night 2008 and Barack Obama’s inauguration, Biden and his family traveled to Water Island over the winter holidays. As vice president, he returned to the island over the next two holiday seasons. (Source: Politico, Ben Schreckinger, January 28, 2020.)

The Politico article does not mention that Water Island is only about 8 miles by boat from Little St. James (Epstein Island) but a few others have noticed.

That Joe Biden seems to like to touch children, and his son Hunter has reportedly had an inappropriate relationship with his 14 year-old niece, leaves us with the impression that Water Island’s proximity to Epstein Island was at least part, if not the primary, appeal of that particular vacation spot.

Aside from Water Island’s proximity to Epstein Island, it was of importance to the military and intelligence apparatus of the United States in the waning days of World War II and the early days of the Cold War. In the context of the likely connections of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the CIA and foreign intelligence agencies, it seems probable that Water Island was a predecessor of Epstein Island.

Water Island’s history goes back to the pirate days, but its importance with respect to current events began towards the end of World War II. Towards the end of WWII the Army and Navy constructed a submarine base for its Caribbean Fleet across the channel on St. Thomas and fortified Water Island to defend the base.

The fortifications on Water Island still exist and include anti-aircraft batteries, bunkers and tunnels connecting the different areas of the Island. The submarine pens on the St. Thomas side of the base are still there. Maybe that is why Ghislaine had a submarine license.

After World War II, Water Island was turned into a facility to test biological and possibly chemical weapons on animals. By the early 1950’s though, these facilities were moved to the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. Probably not coincidently, the first Director at the new Dugway facility was Dr. Lawrence Layton.

Dr. Layton is better known for, years later, providing the financing for the Jim Jones compound in Guyana. (Dr. Layton’s wife, daughter and son all lived in the compound. Lawrence Layton Jr. was convicted in the murder of Representative Leo Ryan.)

Water Island’s next owner

After the Army left Water Island in 1951, it fell into the hands of the Department of the Interior and then assigned to the St. Thomas Development Authority. The Authority then granted a Master Lease to Walter Phillips, retired New York City banker, originally from Texas.

Walter and his wife Floride stayed on the Island the rest of their retired lives. Walter lived until the age of 97 and died in 1997.

There is more to the Walter H. Phillips story. Some of it is evident, but much of it is not. The family trees of Floride and Walter offer a clue, but only in the context of an appreciation for the machinations of pre-Civil War plantation owning families and the post Civil War Robber Barons and Bankers they plotted with.

Basically the Phillips look like they were connected to the tycoons that controlled banking and industry in the first half of the 20th Century, and whose sons and grandsons controlled the US Defense and Intelligence apparatus in the second half of the 20th Century. CIA Directors, Air Force Generals, and CEOs of Defense contractors; those types.
